Winter Football Saturday Competition
With a season roughly following school Terms 2 & 3, the winter football season is a Saturday morning competition is designed to be fun for players at all levels from age 5 to (approx.) 16. Depending on the teams who enter the competition, games may played in Taupō, Reporoa, Turangi or Marotiri.
Taupō Players are asked to register and pay a fee at the end of term one (and before the season starts). The entry process will be published on our website, Facebook page and will be promoted through schools also. Club fees cover gear (balls & a uniform shirt) and go towards the general upkeep of the grounds.
First Kicks and Grade 7 $55
Grade 8 + $88
Teams are created by the committee, with the intention of mixing players of different abilities and experience to encourage an even competition over the season. Players play in their age level based on the year of birth, unless dispensation is granted to play in a different level. Teams are mixed boys and girls.
Players will be notified of their team & their coach before the start of the season.
Coaches will generally hold one practice a week, at a time & day determined by the coach.
As we are best able, we will aim to meet the below recommendations for the various grades. We
- reserve the right to:
- combine grades; and/ or
- amend player numbers
based on the numbers of players / teams registered at the close of registrations
|GRADE||GAME TIME||PLAYER NUMBER||BALL SIZE|
|5-6 First Kicks||25 minutes activities,
+ 3*8 minute game
|7 & 8||2 games (or halves x 20 mins||5 a-side(no goalie)||3|
|9 & 10||2 halves x 25 mins||7 a-side(includes goalie)||4|
|11||2 halves x 30 mins||9 a-side
|12 & Open||2 halves x 35 mins (or less time if less players)||11 a-side
(includes goalie) (Subject to change)
Each team manager / coach must give equal playing time to all players over the course of the season. Should any teams feel this is not happening, please let the football committee know.
Each player will be put in the applicable grade based on their date of birth, regardless of what box is ticked on the registration form. If it is considered that a player would fit better in a lower or higher grade, then an email request must be made to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to the close of registrations. This applies to players who may have played up or down a grade in the previous season.
